LATEST UPDATE

Upcoming event:
AUGUST 9-10

Hello friends!

We haven’t forgotten about AVRA and our commitment to put on an event! We’re excited to show you AVRA, at our upcoming event. But we wanted to make this about more than just AVRA. We’re working with our friend Wolfgang Gil to put together an event focused on art and experiences that engage all the senses.

Our artist collaboration

Wolfgang uses code and technology to create sound sculptures. His art invites the audience to hear, feel, and see the shape of sound, giving it volumes, curves, and edges. For our event, Wolfgang will be preparing a new piece that is part of his research on creating resonant bodies.

We’ve also been working with a couple of our friends under the collective name Vapor Ants to create interactive art pieces. Most recently, we installed an electronic shrine to Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin, at the blockchain-focused Ethereal Summit in New York. We’ll be showing a Vapor Ants piece at our event this summer.

What to expect at the event

AVRA backers will be first in line to immerse in a therapeutic playroom in virtual reality, and play with wind, bubbles and textures.

Apart from the AVRA experience, visitors will experience the shape of sound with Wolfgang's latest sound sculpture "Resonant Body: Diamond," with a different way of visualizing sound.

You will also play with an interactive shrine installation by the Vapor Ants, to send your message to the founder of Blockchain.

We look forward to seeing you there!

WHAT IS AVRA?

AVRA is an immersive wonderland that creates new ways to interact with inanimate objects and everyday surfaces. In this world, walls become canvases for masterpieces, tabletops become pianos, and fans churn out streams of candy colored bubbles.

We're developing a hybrid world for you to touch magical space bubbles, feel a cool breeze of 1s and 0s, and fall down a digital rabbit hole with us.

We want to welcome you to escape reality and join us for a night complete with music, art, cocktails, and the opportunity to explore this hybrid world.

WHO ARE WE?

We're Nour and Janel, two designers and grad students who are exploring how technology can change the ways we perceive the world around us. Industrial designers by training, we're now harnessing the potential of digital art to go beyond what is possible in the physical world.
